The Golden Knights took on the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, October 8th following the Knights past two convincing wins against the San Jose Sharks. Going into this game, the Golden Knights had only beaten the Bruins once in their inaugural season, but have fallen flat and lost the past three games with one of those losses in overtime.
The first period started with yet another early Golden Knights goal as Mark Stone put the Knights up on the board six and a half minutes into the game. Reilly Smith then added his third goal of the season to make it 2-0 with less than 10 minutes played in the game. Boston showed no signs of backing down as David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand scored goals of their own at the end of the first period 2-2.
Brad Marchand had no intentions of stopping his offensive prowess as he added yet another goal just 33 seconds into the second period. Torey Krug got on the scorecard as well as the second period ended 4-2 for the Bruins. That made it four straight goals that the Bruins scored without an answer from the Knights.
The third period jolted hope into the hearts of the Golden Knights fans as Max Pacioretty scored the Golden Knights second power-play goal of the night to make it 4-3. The Knights had no choice but to pull out Marc-Andre Fleury from the goal to add an extra attacker for the last minute and a half of the game. It wasn't enough and Boston left T-Mobile arena with their undefeated streak kept intact. Boston now moves to 3-0-0 to start the season while Las Vegas is 2-1-0.
The moment of the match was when Cody Glass got an assist on Reilly Smith's goal. This now puts Cody Glass in the record books as the youngest ever Golden Knights player to record an assist, at just 20 years and 190 days old.
The Golden Knights next home match is on Saturday, October 12th against the Calgary Flames.
