The wait is finally over. Dana White’s Contender Series returns for its seventh consecutive season.
The Contender Series has produced many of today’s top talents in the UFC, and most recently produced its first UFC champion in Jamahal Hill. Tuesday, August 8th, will be the first of ten cards for this season.
All fighters taking part in this card made weight Monday morning as they are now ready to fight for a UFC contract on Tuesday. Headlining this first card are a pair of Brazilian middleweights Cesar Almeida (3-0) and Lucas Fernando (9-1).
A notable storyline going into this first card of the season is bantamweight fighter Reyes Cortez Jr. He is the brother of current UFC flyweight and Contender Series graduate, Tracy Cortez. Cortez Jr will be taking on Payton Talbott in hopes of joining his sister as a UFC fighter.
Another notable fight to keep an eye out for is the opener of the night between flyweights Kevin Borjas and Victor Dias. Dias has MMA legend and former UFC title challenger Marlon Moraes in his corner. None of the two men taking part in this fight wanted to back down from their faceoff and even exchanged a couple of words.
The start of Season 7 of Dana White’s Contender Series begins on Tuesday, August 8th, at 1:00 p.m. ET/ 4:00 p.m. PT on ESPN+.
