The Shriners Hospitals for Children Open returns to Las Vegas for its 37th consecutive year this October. The tournament will be held at TPC Summerlin for the 27th consecutive year and host one of the events most renowned field of players. Patrick Lindsey, Executive Director of the tournament, explains how this particular event differs from other PGA Tour events around the world. The tournament benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children, an international nonprofit organization that provides health care to patients regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Each of the 22 hospitals send one patient to Las Vegas to assist with the tournament and even walk the golf course with a PGA Tour player.
Leading the field this year is world number one Brooks Koepka along with fan favorite Phil Mickelson. Also playing in this years open are several UNLV alumni, including Charley Hoffman, Ryan Moore, and Adam Scott as well as a few Las Vegas locals, Scott Piercy, Kevin Na, and Aaron Wise. The reigning champion of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, Bryson DeChambeau, will be attending and playing the event as well as Jim Furyk, three time champion of the open. The first flight of golfers tee off on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 7:05 a.m.
