Las Vegas hosted the League's Cup final at Sam Boyd Stadium. Fans from all over the world came to see their favorite teams play. "We came from LA to support our team, we called in sick, so please don’t tell my boss”, one exuberant Cruz Azul fan told me. Fans began arriving in Las Vegas as early as five in the morning to support their team, Cruz Azul, which translates to Blue Cross in Spanish. Cruz Azul is one of Mexico’s most popular teams, so there was no surprise when droves of fans filled the stadium. Among the crowd is an almost naked guy painted in blue, who called himself “the smurf” said this was his honeymoon; he came from Florida. Soccer for him meant passion and companionship. In his eyes, soccer is “the most beautiful sport in the world.”
