The Skatin’ Rebels took the ice Saturday night in hopes of splitting their series with the Central Oklahoma Bronchos, losing 6-2.

UNLV goaltender Vince Benedetto got the nod to start in the net for the Skatin’ Rebels, seeing his first ice time of the year.

Benedetto would get into early trouble however, letting up two goals on the first two shots he faced in the game.

The Rebels were assaulted for the remainder of the first period, being outshot 9-3.

The Broncho forecheck did not let up in the second period, with Adam Stalzer putting one past Benedetto to put UCO up 3-0.

UNLV’s David Lenzin would answer back, pulling off a nice move at the blue line and wristing one past Ben Kelsch to put the Rebels on the board.

Central Oklahoma responded with another goal, this time by leading scorer Vitali Mikhailov.

Angelos Tsalafos found the back of the net for UNLV off of an odd bounce for his first of the year, drawing the Skatin’ Rebels within two.

Kelsch would not let another UNLV shot past him for the remainder of the game.

The Bronchos scored an extra two goals in the third and final frame, with Luke Bombardir making a powerplay goal and Cooper Krauss putting UCO up 6-2.

UNLV now stands fifth in the WCHL standings, with an overall record of 4-2 and a division record of 2-2.

The Skatin’ Rebels return home to face off against the Arizona Wildcats Oct. 22-23 at City National Arena.

The Wildcats enter the series 3-4 on the year so far, with their leading scorer being forward Brody Selman.

Puck drop for both games will be at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase at the door, or at rebelhockey.com/tix. UNLV students get in free with their RebelCard.
