Main Event: Marina Rodriguez vs Mackenzie Dern (Strawweight)

Dern attempted to clinch and get Rodriguez down in round one. Rodriguez got a few solid strikes in and kept Dern at distance, while also preventing any takedowns.

In round two, Dern continued to chase after Rodriguez and finally got her down for a significant amount of time. Dern dominated, ending up in full mount towards the end of the round.

The third round was completely different. The fight remained standing with Rodriguez clearly getting the better of the exchanges.

It was more of the same in round four with Rodriguez landing the most damaging strikes. Dern was able to take Rodriguez down at the end of the round and came close to locking up a submission.

Round five saw Dern trying to make something happen knowing she likely needed a finish. It was no good as Rodriguez continued to keep the fight standing and have her way.

Rodriguez stifled Dern’s gameplan and picked up a unanimous decision victory 49-46 on all cards.

Co-main Event: Randy Brown vs Jared Gooden (Welterweight)

Fine striking from both men in round one. The most damaging strike coming from Brown with a front kick to the face of Gooden.

Prior to round two, it was revealed that Brown possibly broke at least one of his toes. Gooden would land several damaging leg strikes, and Brown would connect with a big right hand that got Gooden’s attention.

In round three, Brown pushed forward looking for a finish, show boating and even having time to try and pop his toe back into place.

A great fight that ended in a unanimous decision victory for Brown 30-27 on all scorecards.

Highlights From the Rest of the Card

Two ranked Flyweights met as No.11 Matheus Nicolau faced off against No.9 Tim Elliott. It was a close fight with Elliott clearly winning round one, but two close rounds thereafter saw Nicolau win a unanimous decision 29-28 on all scorecards.

Mariya Agapova put on a striking clinic against betting favorite, Sabina Mazo. Agapova set up her rear-naked choke win with a right hand that dropped Mazo.

Alexander Romanov dominated Jared Vanderaa to earn a TKO victory. Romanov dragged Vanderaa all around the octagon with the win coming through a barrage of unanswered ground and pound.

Lupita Godinez was fantastic in her submission victory over UFC newcomer, Silvana Gomez Juarez. Godinez’s grappling relentlessness was too much for Gomez Juarez as she charged to a first round armbar finish.

Steve Garcia and Charlie Ontiveros opened the card with an action-packed matchup. Garcia survived being knocked down a few times early to earn a TKO victory following some ruthless ground punches on Ontiveros.
