Saturday 25 September

Chelsea vs Manchester City:

Two title contenders met at Stamford Bridge. City would eventually score early in the second half through Gabriel Jesus.

A poorly defended goal by Chelsea as Jesus was surrounded by defenders but managed to turn and get a fortunate deflection which wrong-footed goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

City was solid at the back and could have scored a second themselves, but they kept Chelsea at bay, winning 1-0.

Manchester United vs Aston Villa:

Coming off a huge result against Everton, Villa continued their fine form at Old Trafford. Both teams could have won the game honestly, but the breakthrough came with a fantastic header from Kortney Hause.

Man U was awarded a penalty after a Hause handball. The typically reliable Bruno Fernandes took the penalty and missed it horribly, skying it over the crossbar. Villa held onto the lead, winning the game 1-0.

Leicester City vs Burnley:

Burnley sits without a win in the Premier League, while Leicester has been disappointing so far this season. Jamie Vardy scored at the wrong end for Leicester, putting Burnley one goal up.

Leicester would push forward looking for the equalizer and would eventually get it. This time Vardy would score at the right end.

Burnley would continue to be a nuisance and Maxwell Cornet scored an amazing volley to put the Clarets back into the lead. Vardy once again would score, going around Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope to finish into an open net. Leicester survived a scare as the teams drew 2-2.

Everton vs Norwich City:

Injuries continued to hamper Everton, which was good news for Norwich in search of their first point of the season.

It looked bleak for Norwich early after Everton was awarded a penalty thanks to VAR's ruling that Ozan Kabak had fouled Allan in the box.

Andros Townsend scored the penalty. Everton would seal the game after Damarai Gray set up Abdoulaye Doucoure to make it 2-0 and that is how the game would finish.

Leeds United vs West Ham:

Leeds faced another tough test in their bid for their first win of the Premier League season, as they took on a West Ham team in fine form. Leeds would break the deadlock. Rafinha is the man to score yet again for the home side.

The Irons thought they had equalized through Tomas Soucek, but an arm to Leeds goalkeeper, Illan Meslier’s face by Michail Antonio ruled it out, while also producing a yellow card for Antonio.

The visitors finally made a breakthrough after Jarrod Bowen’s shot ricocheted off two defenders. A brilliant touch and finish from Antonio would win it for West Ham in the 90th minute. West Ham wins 2-1.

Watford vs Newcastle United:

Newcastle traveled to Watford still searching for a win this season. Newcastle was the dangerous team early and they would open the scoring from a long-range strike by Sean Longstaff.

Newcastle paid the price for not getting a second goal when Ismaila Sarr scored a header from a corner. Watford thought they had won it after Joshua King was the beneficiary of a saved Moussa Sissoko shot.

Several Watford players, including King, were ruled offside when the initial shot from Sissoko came in. Both sides share the spoils as the teams draw 1-1.

Brentford vs Liverpool:

Brentford proved yet again that they are worthy of their spot in the Premier League against 2020 champions, Liverpool. Ethan Pinnock would put the home side up after some lazy defending from Liverpool.

Diogo Jota equalized a few minutes later, making it 1-1. Salah would make it 2-1 despite an offside scare which was ruled incorrect in the end. Salah got his 100th league goal for Liverpool.

The Bees continued their stubbornness with Vitaly Janelt scoring for the home side. The score changes would not stop coming after Curtis Jones released a rocket to make it 3-2 to Liverpool.

This wild game would end with Yoane Wissa lifting the ball over Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson. The final score was 3-3.

Sunday 26 September

Southampton vs Wolverhampton:

Sunday would open with a battle between two sides at the wrong end of the Premier League table. Southampton would have the better of the chances throughout the first half.

The breakthrough would come after Raul Jimenez outmuscled several defenders to score a brilliant goal. A wonderful moment considering it was his first goal since suffering a horrific head injury last season.

Southampton’s missed chances would cost them. Wolves win the game 1-0.

Arsenal vs Tottenham:

Arsenal’s recent run of good form hit the pinnacle after they took down their biggest rivals. Emile Smith-Rowe made it 1-0, taking advantage of some awful Tottenham defending.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who had been lively to start the game, was the man to make it 2-0. The misery continued for Spurs, going 3-0 down thanks to a goal from Bukayo Saka.

Spurs would avoid complete humiliation after Heung-Min Son pulled one back. It was Arsenal’s day in the North London derby. The game ended 3-1 to the Gunners.

Monday 27 September

Crystal Palace vs Brighton:

Match week six came to an end at Selhurst Park. It was not the liveliest game, with both teams trading chances here and there. The first big moment of the game came with a penalty being awarded to Palace.

Leandro Trossard committing a foul on Conor Gallagher. Wilfried Zaha was the man to convert the spot-kick making it 1-0 to Palace.

Palace would eventually pay for their misses as Brighton hung around and finally scored. Neal Maupay with a brilliant chip over the keeper to steal a point for Brighton. The game ended in a 1-1 draw.
