Despite UNLV putting up a good fight against 23rd ranked team in the nation, the matchup that ended in a 37-10 loss.
UNLV managed to keep ASU on their toes in the first half with a field goal by Daniel Gutierrez early on in the first quarter. The Rebels found the endzone later in the second quarter on a four-yard scamper by Sophomore quarterback Doug Brumfield to take a 10-7 lead.
The Sun Devils answered back with an 11 play, 62-yard drive that ended with a 13-yard rush by ASU running back Daniyel Ngata. The Sun Devils carried this lead throughout the remainder of the second quarter and took a 14-10 lead into halftime.
UNLV lacked in the second half and didn’t score again, resulting in Arizona State maintaining the lead and scoring on four consecutive drives. Arizona State won 37-10 against UNLV. The Rebels, meanwhile, were only able to muster 14 yards of total offense in the second half.
Doug Brumfield started at quarterback against ASU. Brumfield passed for 60 yards and rushed for 43 yards including his rushing touchdown in the second quarter.
The next game for UNLV football will be Sept 18 against Iowa State at Allegiant Stadium.
