The Rebels are back with a VENGEANCE

The Rebels are back with a VENGEANCE

The Rebels are halfway through, what feels like, their first real training camp, under head coach Marcus Arroyo.

“I think the growth has been in the practice. The ability to practice together, work together, play physical and understand how to work. That’s a big piece of camp for us.” Arroyo said.

The team is coming back with a vengeance after one of the most challenging years due to dealing with Covid-19 and the restrictions that were set in place last season. Fortunately, the highly recruited class of 2021 does not have to face the challenges of Covid-19 restrictions to the extent of last year’s team.

The freshmen class is eager to set their mark on this team and contribute to turning this program around. The last two Rebel recruiting classes have been highly rated, but did not get enough credit.

Coach Arroyo is very pleased with his new recruits: “The rookies are doing a good job. They are on time and study hard.

“We ask a lot of them, Arroyo said. “We are so young as a program; so, the depth isn’t there yet. Those guys are running with two’s sometimes. “

The Rebels are expected to bring their competitiveness, improved technique, and grit to the gridiron this season. During media availability on August 16, 2021, Coach Arroyo mentioned Shaun Grayson, Anthony Rosas, Cameron Friel, Cameron Oliver, and Deammkkio Nathan II and the hard work they have been putting in.

#18, TE Shaun Grayson “He’s getting in there and getting a lot of reps.”

#54, OL Anthony Rosas “He’s rolling with the OL”

#7, QB Cameron Friel (who was a midyear enrollee) “He is still a part of the class and getting a lot of reps in.”

#25, DB Cameron Oliver “Has done a really good job on defense.

#10, WR Deamikkio Nathan II “He’s doing a nice job on the wide receivers, getting some runs when we needed some leg savers.”

“All those guys in the freshmen class have understood early that they were going to be treated no differently regarding their engagement and what we ask of them.” Arroyo said.

This year is certain to be a challenge for the Rebel Football team, but with their resolve and work ethic instilled in them by Coach Arroyo and the staff, it is abundantly clear they will be up to this challenge.
