Marc-Andre Fleury with his fifth shut-out of the season. Could this of been his easiest one? Facing only 14 shots in a Sunday afternoon victory.
A Golden Shut-Out: Knights Edge Out Coyotes 1-0

A mantiee between the Arizona Coyotes and Vegas Golden Knights took place on Sunday afternoon. Where the Golden Knights shut-out the Coyotes in a 1-0 victory, taking the sweep of the two game set.

Vegas is now 13-5 all time against the Coyotes. After this win, the Knights are ahead in the season series 5-1.

A physical first frame between the Coyotes and Golden Knights resulted in a scoreless tie heading into the second period. Arizona, was quick to get out on the rush and was able to set up a few chances in front of Marc-Andre Fleury.

Fleury made a stop on a trickling puck behind his back stopping it with the glove before a Coyote could pound it in the net. As the period progressed, Arizona’s Clayton Keller sent wristers wide of the net and teammate Johan Larsson had a terrific chance to break the tie late in the period, yet he had also sent it wayward.

As for the Vegas chances, the Knights fired six shots at Adin Hill.  Two of the chances rang off of the post sending a ringing through T-Mobile arena.

Max Pacioretty beat everything but the iron on a powerplay opportunity. Minutes later, Alex Tuch faced the same outcome as another Vegas scoring chance was robbed via the post.

The first period was surely highlighted by Ryan Reaves. As Reaves absolutely delivered a vicious hit on Jordan Gross as Gross went to make a long pass up ice.

The second period ended just like the first. Tied at nil.

Vegas produced far more chances in the middle frame compared to the first, 16 shots were taken at Hill. As the Desert Dogs’ net-minder made all 16 saves, he did receive more help from the post.

Alex Pietrangelo hit the crossbar on a drive from near the blue line. Vegas remained steady in keeping the offensive pressure, looking crisp on the break-out but did become somewhat unraveled when possessing the puck in the offensive zone.

Down the other end the best chance for Arizona came early in the period, as an Alex Goligoski wrist shot was off the post, as Fleury dove onto the puck Micheal Bunting gave a jab at it to then be stopped by Fleury. This was two of the only four chances in the entire period for the Coyotes.

Scoring finally broke open in the third period at the 9:22 mark. Tomas Nosek netted his seventh goal of the year, off of a Jonathan Marchessault assist, his nineteenth.

Arizona on a tired shift, could not clear the puck out of their own zone cleanly. Resulting into a turnover and a puck on the stick of Marchessault, to Nosek and finally behind Hill.

Hill was crisp in this start after allowing five goals within two periods back in game one of the two game set. Hill only allowed one on 29 shots faced in this outing.

As for Arizona, they could not find a way to match the lone marker in the game, producing only 14 shots. Fleury blanked the Desert Dogs’ for his fifth shut-out of the season.

Vegas moves to 27-11-2 and Arizona has now fallen to 19-18-5. Vegas remains in the second spot in the Honda West Division behind Colorado, whereas Arizona is battling for the fourth and final spot with a rotation of teams like the San Jose Sharks and St Louis Blues.

Monday in Los Angeles, the Golden Knights will face off against the Kings who at 16-18-6 are coming off of a win and will look to challenge the Knights in Staples Center. Puck-drop is at 7:00 PM.
