UNLV met GCU for a Senior Night that saw plenty of physical play and a goal-filled second half, which ended with a Rebel loss.

The Rebels honored senior Mason Reid with a pre-game ceremony. He played crucial game minutes during tonight’s match.

A rather uneventful first half followed the pre-game festivities, seeing very little offense from either team, producing a stagnated midfield battle.

The second half opened up the game with Rebels defender Matthew Ridley receiving a red card two minutes into the half.

Shortly after the ejection, Rebels forward Skylar Goo butted in a freekick from Jesus Partida.

The shorthanded Rebels faltered over the remaining stretch of the match, giving up the tying goal at 73:05, then giving up the second and ultimately game-winning goal at 85:02.

"When you’re playing 10 men a full half, it’s hard to withstand the pressure,” Rebels Soccer Head Coach Rich Ryerson said. “I’m proud of what the guys did, we just didn't get the result.”

With the regular season officially coming to a close, all focus shifts to the upcoming WAC tournament on April 13. UNLV faces Seattle University in the opening round.

"We have a new season starting from scratch,” Ryerson continued. “The mindset is still going to be very powerful. We're very confident in the way we are playing.”

Seattle University finished off their season with a record of 4-2-1 and sit one spot below the Rebels in the WAC standings.

"We get to play Seattle which will be a fantastic game,” Ryerson said. “Now we have a new season.”
