The UNLV baseball team trailed Fresno State in the bottom of the fifth inning 6-1, only to mount a comeback and win the game 10-9, thanks to a walk off single from Austin Kryszczuk in the tenth inning.
The Rebels won both games in Friday’s double header against the Bulldogs. They won the first game 9-5.
“It's a long day it’s just brutal on the kids but it's the same for both teams whether you like it or not,” Says Head Coach Stan Stole, “it's a grind that's for sure”
The team came out a little slow in the second game, only scoring one run in the first four innings. They added two more in the fifth. The Rebels were static all the way up until the bottom of the ninth, down 3-7, but they fought hard and scored often to tie the game and send it into extra innings.
“You know our conference is crazy” Says Stotle, “we were on the wrong end of a similar situation last week where the other team scored a bunch of runs to beat us...it's such a crazy conference and crazy league you never know what to expect and anything can happen.”
The Rebels look to close this home stretch out with a sweep against the Bulldogs tomorrow at 11:05 a.m.
“It was pretty two hard fought games. They're very good,” says Stotle “... we know tomorrow's game’s gonna be tough because Fresno State is a great program.”
