Coming off a win against Utah Valley Friday, the Rebels met a strong opponent in the California Baptist Lancers.

The Lancers and Rebels virtually had an even split throughout the course of the match, seeing UNLV taking possession for 60% of the game.

“Getting a shutout today was big,” UNLV Head Coach Rich Ryerson said. “California Baptist is a very organized, technical team, so it was a great win for us.”

Rebels’ midfielder Bailey Letherman proved to be the overtime hero for the second game in a row, lifting UNLV over CBU in the 99th minute.

“To be honest, I don’t remember there being an announcement for the [final minute].” Letherman said. “I just let one fly to see what happens.”

A defensive battle provided very few shots on target and scoring, with each team registering only one shot on target.

“Throughout the game we’ve accumulated shots,” Letherman continued. “But it was a big emphasis to get shots on target.”

Looking ahead, the Rebels have three regular season games remaining, with two road contests at Dixie State University March 31 and San Jose State April 5, then rounding off the season on Senior Night at home against Grand Canyon University April 10.
