Rebels Drop Game Three To Wolflpack; Win Silver State Series.

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels were able to win the Silver Series by two games to one, yet a game three loss by the score of 6-1, is the first defeat of the 2021 season.

Freshman Josh Sharman took the hill for the Rebels, the lefty pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs. University of Nevada’s Dillan Shrum’s two RBI double in the third inning broke the scoring open.

Later in the fourth inning, Wolfpacks’ Anthony Flores singled and then advanced on the base pads via a Sharman balk. Leading to a Marco Valenzuela sacrifice RBI to give the pack' a 3-0 lead.

Nevada was able to hold onto this lead up until the sixth inning, as Owen Sharts was outstanding in this outing. Seven strikeouts, one earned run in six full innings of work for Sharts. Trevor Rosenburg, the Rebel second basemen was the first hit of the ball game in the fifth, followed by Jack Thomas-Wold’s RBI single in the sixth to cut the lead down to two.

Troy Balko came in relief for Sharman and worked into the eighth inning, he ended up allowing the Wolfpack to push two more runs across off of a two RBI base hit from Logan Douglas.

Shane Gustafson was in relief for Sharts and was a tough side arm thrower. Working the final three innings for Nevada, he only allowed one hit. Along with another run crossing for Reno in the top of the ninth off a Tyler Bosetti RBI, the game was in firm hands of the Wolpack as they rode to a 6-1 victory.
