The Las Vegas Aces won in dominating fashion over the Dallas Wings, the final score being 86-68.
The Aces were led, not by reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year A’ja Wilson, but by fifth-year forward Dearica Hamby, who scored a career-high 27 points. Hamby also reached the milestone of reaching 1,000 career points in the WNBA. Wilson was second in scoring for the Aces, contributing 20 points and going 9-12 from the field.
Dallas was led by Arike Ogunbowale with 25 points. The Wings were without four-time All-Star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith, who is still recovering from her pregnancy.
The game was close at the beginning with Dallas leading by two at the end of the first quarter. Shooting seemed to be the difference for the rest of the game as the Aces went into the half with a fifteen point lead. Las Vegas never looked back in the second half, with their biggest lead being by 27. The Aces finished shooting 53% from the field, while Dallas shot 28.6%.
Liz Cambage, the Aces’ newest addition, scored 11 points and grabbed 9 rebounds against her former team. The fourth-year center out of Australia was acquired via trade on May 16th. In return, Dallas received Moriah Jefferson, Isabelle Henderson, and the Aces’ first and second round picks for the 2020 draft.
The Aces (5-4) are hosting the defending champion Seattle Storm on Tuesday, June 25th at 7pm.
