UNLV vs. Eastern Washington Canceled due to COVID 19

Just three days removed from their first victory of the season, a positive test within the Runnin Rebels team has forced a cancellation of their game against the Eastern Washington Eagles.

The news broke this morning after the athletic department revealed that a member of the UNLV men's basketball team had tested positive for COVID 19.  As of right now, it is unclear if the positive test belongs to a player or a member of the staff or how many members of the team tested positive.  The Eastern Washington team was notified of the positive test prior to them traveling to Las Vegas for the game.  This is the first game for the men's basketball team to be cancelled this season.

For the Runnin' Rebels, the timing is unfortunate.  On Dec. 5 the team recorded their first win against the Kansas State Wildcats with a 68-58 victory.  The victory had to have felt good for the team, given their winless showing in the Maui Invitational last week.  The Rebels were looking to continue to build momentum this week, but unfortunately it was not meant to be.

Currently, there are no plans to reschedule the game.  This could change in the future, but for right now the Rebels will not be playing Eastern Washington any time soon.
