It has been a long time coming but we have got our message now, the UNLV Runnin' Rebels will travel to southern California to take on the San Diego State Aztecs on October 24th. Due to the coronavirus pandemic collegiate sports have taken a massive hit, major conferences have not been able to play a normally scheduled regular season. The ACC, SEC, Big-12, Sun Belt and Conference USA have been the only conferences playing so far this fall. Now other conferences such as the Pac-12, Big-10 and Mountain West are going to be playing on Saturdays since the news broke last week.
This brings the utmost of excitement to a UNLV campus that has been starving for some togetherness, with on campus classes being so limited, students rarely cross paths with one another. While sports are a common ground to bring people together to cheer for their teams and in college, their classmates and friends, UNLV is ready to get back on the field and represent the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
While the Runnin' Rebels may share the brand new Allegiant stadium with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Rebels are taking a different approach to home games. Whereas Raiders owner Mark Davis, is not allowing any fans into the new venue during Raiders games, including himself, UNLV has proposed a plan that will allow about 6,500 fans inside the stadium for their home games. Local and state must sign off this plan to allow fans into the stadium, if passed this would give the Rebels a slight home field advantage over the four teams visiting the “Death Star” on Saturdays.
Speaking of the schedule, here it is below, circle Halloween on your calendars this year for more reasons than one.
