Las Vegas Could Potentially Host End of NBA Season

Due to the impact of COVID-19, the NBA was the first league to suspend its season, but will there be hope for the rest of the season as well as Las Vegas? The NBA has been strongly considering finishing their interrupted 2019-2020 regular season along with the playoffs in Las Vegas.

The NBA has a strong relationship with the city, as the NBA Summer League has been hosted at the Thomas and Mack Center for 15 years. After the Golden Knights and Aces expanded to Vegas, it is inevitable that the Valley could eventually have an NBA team. So, it is not surprising that the NBA is considering Las Vegas.

Would it work?

For now, no one knows when social distancing protocols will end, or if the coronavirus has peaked in the United States yet. While everyone is missing sports, the health crisis is top priority. With that being said, holding the games when the country is not ready, and having hundreds, if not thousands, of workers and players coming together, even without an audience, could prove ignorant and hazardous. But that is not to say that it could not end its season eventually in Las Vegas.

If the virus is contained and social distancing measures are relieved by July or August, Las Vegas would be the perfect location for a speedy NBA postseason. Why? There are so many different arenas that could hold games simultaneously in a short period of time.

Only time will tell when the country and sports world will be ready.
