A Look Ahead for the Runnin' Rebels

UNLV Men's Basketball is preparing for the Mountain West Conference Championship coming to Las Vegas, March 4th through March 7th. The Runnin' Rebels are currently 10-6 in conference, with two games to play. San Diego State is first in conference, fifth in the nation, but lost their undefeated season streak against the Runnin' Rebels last Saturday. The Rebels won 66-63 over the San Diego State Aztecs.

Also ranked above UNLV currently is Utah State, Nevada, Boise State, and Colorado State.

UNLV began conference play in December with a win on the road against Fresno State, 81-80. Other notable conference wins include Utah State, which is 3rd in Mountain West, 80-56; and the recent San Diego State win.

The Runnin' Rebels are currently tied for 5th in the Mountain West approaching the Mountain West Conference Championship. The Rebels big win over San Diego State will give them the confidence they need heading forward.

Bryce Hamilton, sophomore shooting guard, led in scoring this season, followed by Amauri Hardy, junior point guard. Cheikh Mbacke Diong led in rebounds this season with 234, averaging 8.1 a game. Amauri Hardy led in assists with 91 for the season, average 3.1 a game. Marvin Coleman led in steals with 34 for the season, average 1.4 a game.

The Rebels final home game is against Boise State tomorrow night and their final away game is this Saturday against San Jose State. Both these games will determine where the Rebels stand going into the Mountain West Conference Championship.
