Double Or Nothing was a great show, not only showcasing the best indie wrestlers in the world; also, sending a strong message to Vince McMahon and the WWE.

Only 24 hours removed and already there is a sense that a new era of professional wrestling has begun, with All Elite Wrestling leading the charge.

Airing from the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Double Or Nothing delivered on the pageantry, drama, action and story-telling that is akin to WWE while delivering on a product that is original and a clear alternative to the cookie cutter format produced in Titan Towers.

AEW Double Or Nothing Results:

  • 21-man Casino Battle Royal: “Hangman” Adam Page won, earning a number one contenders spot for the inaugural AEW Championship

  • Kip Sabian def. Sammy Guevara

  • SoCal Uncensored def. #StrongHearts

  • Britt Baker def. Nyla Rose, Kylie Rae and Awesome Kong

  • Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Baretta) def. Jack Evans and Angelico

  • Hikaru Shida, Riho Abe and Ryo Mizunami def. Aja Kong, Yuka Sakazaki and Emi Sakura

  • Cody def. Dustin Rhodes (match of the night)

  • Bret “The Hitman” Hart presented the AEW Championship

  • AAA World Tag Team Championship Match: The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (c) def. The Lucha Bros (Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr.)

  • Chris Jericho def. Kenny Omega: Chris Jericho will face Adam Page for the AEW Championship

  • Jon Moxley (fka. Dean Ambrose) made his shocking debut laying out the referee, Jericho and Omega. Moxley then proceeded to brawl throughout the arena with Omega

Closing Thoughts:

Overall, the show had a slow-build with a lukewarm beginning, the action started to really pick up towards the second half of the show; however, the show still had its fair share of botches, miscues and awkward camera angles.

Granted only one match truly felt out of place and that was the six woman tag, but overall the match quality was nothing but impressive.

For AEW’s first pay-per view, it could not have gone better and the general feedback from the fans has been nothing but positive.

If you are a wrestling fan who is looking for an alternative of the WWE product, give AEW a watch.

A new era of professional wrestling has begun.
