The Golden Knights take on the Carolina Hurricanes in Las Vegas, Nevada. The last time these two teams met, the Golden Knights won on the road, 4-3. The first period begins, and both teams get their fair share of chances. Max Pacioretty opens the scoring, deflecting the puck in front of the net, putting it past Reimer. A little over a minute later, Jon Merrill scores a snap-shot goal, to put the Golden Knights up 2-0. The Hurricanes struggled to get one back. With the final moments of the first period upon us, Teuvo Teravainen dumps the puck towards the net, and it finds a hole, with the first period coming to an end, 2-1.

The Golden Knights come out of the locker-rooms, searching to widen the lead. One minute into the 2nd period, Shea Theodore scores a snap-shot goal to put the Golden Knights up 3-1. Both the Hurricanes and the Knights had their chances, but could not put anything past the goaltenders for the rest of the period.
The third period begins, and the Hurricanes come out with their sights on goal. Sebastian Aho puts one past Fleury, to trim the lead to one. Shortly after the Carolina goal, Zach Whitecloud is called for a High Stick, a 4-minute double minor. The Golden Knights eagerly attempt to try and kill the penalty. Chandler Stephenson goes on the breakaway, and scores short-handed. The Hurricanes quickly answer as Erik Haula scores a PPG, in his first game back at T-Mobile Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes are trailing 4-3, as Martin Necas and Haydn Fleury score for the Hurricanes, they score 3 unanswered goals and lead 5-4. All of a sudden, the Golden Knights are trailing, after being in the lead the entire game. Cody Eakin scores a wrap-around goal with 3:43 remaining. We are headed to overtime.
Overtime begins, and the Golden Knights have a man advantage. The Knights could not put anything past Reimer, but they keep the pressure on. Carolina created their own chances, as they hit the pipes multiple times. Reimer put his goaltender skills on display, making 2 glove saves, and saving a puck from sliding past the goal-line. The two teams went to a shootout, as Andrei Svechnikov and Justin Williams both capitalize on their penalty shots. The Knights could not get anything past Reimer in the shootout, as Carolina wins 6-5 Final/SO.
