Golden Knights lose 5-2 against the LA Kings after a woeful 1st period

The Knights took the ice on January 9th against an LA Kings team that they last lost to on November 16th by 4 goals to 3. With a win, the golden knights would break a four way tie in the Western conference for 2nd place, but the Kings had other plans in mind as Alex Martinez, Ben Hutton, Tyler Toffoli and Adrian Kempe all scored goals to cap off a first period that ended 4-0 to the Kings in what must have been the worst first period in the Knights franchise history.

The Golden Knights shaped up after their first period woes and scored two goals within one minute of the Second period thanks to goals from Reilly Smith and Max Pacioretty.

The Knights tried to rally in the 3rd period, but it was the Kings that grabbed the only goal of the period right off of a faceoff with 9 seconds left in the game for a final score of 5-2.

Reilly Smith and Gerard Gallant voiced their frustration towards conceding 4 goals in their first period and not being able to bounce back.

The Knights have now conceded 11 first period goals in the last 4 games.

The Golden Knights next matchup is at home on January 11th against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
