Las Vegas- UNLV Football welcomed their new head coach Marcus Arroyo, at the Fertitta Football Complex. Arroyo comes to UNLV after serving as offensive coordinator, team’s quarterback and tight ends coach at the University of Oregon the past three seasons.

In his three seasons at Oregon their record improved each year 7-6, 9-4 to 11-2. This past season they averaged thirty-six points a game, 268 passing yards, 183 rushing yards, and a total of 451 yards on offense per game. The team totaled sixty-three touch downs this season.

Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois spoke about the hiring process and the qualities that solidified her decision in selecting Arroyo as new head coach, “We set out to find a leader and a teacher with a competitive drive, the energy, the intellect and the caring, to lead our young men to success on the field and off.”

“The community is a huge aspect as to why this place is going in the direction that it’s in. It’s eclectic, supportive, it’s a sports town… it’s inviting. My family fits in perfectly that’s a huge part of it. This is an awesome opportunity and a great place that wants to be great. I am going to ask all hands-on deck.” Arroyo said in a statement. He plans to re-recruit the guys on the team, get to know them, earn their trust and get to work.

“I’ve been in places that many would assume to be the best of the best, this is nothing short of amazing.” With Coach Arroyo’s eagerness to assess the teams needs he looks forward to turning this program around to a strong Division I program.
