Last Sunday, the Raiders lost to the Tennessee Titans, 42-21. The Raiders have suffered several injuries this season, including the most recent knee injury during the Titans game of tight end Foster Moreau and a still fractured rib of rookie wide receiver Hunter Renfrow.
According to NBC Sports, Head Coach John Gruden called the most recent loss “sickening” and that “What happened will not happen again. I can’t allow it to happen.”
The lack of Raiders defense was highlighted during Sunday’s game, as the Titan’s starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill has upped their passing game. Tannehill seemed to find all the flaws in the Raiders’ defense, which led to a total of 552 yards for the Titans. The Raiders also failed to stop the Titans on eight of their 11 third down attempts.
So what does this losing streak mean for the Raiders and their postseason chances? Their chances are almost zero.
With the Raiders now being 6-7, the New York Times has their chance of making it to the playoffs at 1%. Although their hope in the middle of the season grew with their three-game winning streak, it has now been taken away by their three-game losing streak. Their slim hope for the playoffs may increase by 1% if they win their next three games, however another playoff season for this team seems highly unlikely.
