While they are currently The Oakland Raiders, next year the team will relocate to Las Vegas and already they are making a mark in the community. Raider personalities, alumni, Raiderettes and community leaders gathered together for a good cause October 24, 2019, Las Vegas style. All to benefit the Nevada Youth Football League.
The Raider Foundation hosted a charity poker tournament at the Stirling Club in Las Vegas. Participants enjoyed an interactive night of poker, food and drinks. The event, which also held a silent action, will benefit the Nevada Football League a non-profit organization that facilitates various competitions for both football and cheer programs. Some greats like Lincoln Kennedy, Jim Plunkett, and Roland Williams were in attendance.
Before the tournament started community members and players expressed their excitement for the Raiders coming to Las Vegas.
Former Raider Fullback Marcel Reece says, “A move to Las Vegas for the Raiders, is a wonderful thing to get a fresh start.”
President of The Youth Football League, Steve Grammas said "Of course," when the Raiders approached them about this opportunity. Grammas continued, “These people are here to help us, we said absolutely and it's not just this little bit, it's going to continue and to know that the Raiders are going to stay here for a long time. They bring new supporters into our league and the kids know when they get to interact with the folks from the Raiders it means the world to them.”
The collaboration will impact our youth athletes for the better for now and years to come. The grand prize, a seat to the 2020 World Series of Poker went to former Raider Lincoln Kennedy .
