There Could Potentially Be Empty Seats In NBA Arenas

The Coronavirus is spreading faster than ever and could lead to the National Basketball Association to keep fans from entering the arena until further notice.
There Could Potentially Be Empty Seats In NBA Arenas

In the NBA, from mid March to April 15, is the most prolific and interesting time of the year for the league.

Teams make their final push for the playoffs, and players make game statement cases for the Most Valuable Player award along with other awards.

Now, as we all know as basketball fans, the fans are the NBAs ‘pot of gold’ when it comes to the business side of the sport. On the other side, NBA players such as LeBron James, James Harden, Giannis Antetokunmpo, household names only play for one thing mostly and that is the fans.

The fans are a huge portion of any sport because they keep the entertainment at high levels, especially when trolling the athletes. Fans are like teammates that bring out the best in these mega star athletes. However, since the outbreak of the Coronavirus, leagues have kept a close eye on the virus as it continues to grow. Not knowing who has it, the NBA has taken multiple steps of caution towards the virus.

The NBA’s main step was notifying team organizations and players to “prepare to play games without fans if necessary.”

Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, tells a ESPN reporter, “We play games without fans? Nah, that’s impossible. I ain’t playing, if I ain’t got the fans in the crowd, that’s who I play for.”

Instead of the NBA making that big leap of not allowing fans in the arena, they made an executive decision only allowing team officials and players in the locker room. Media are not to enter locker rooms for games and are not to be at practices due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

If the NBA were to make that official, their viewership would go through the roof due to all their fans being a home. Games without fans would be like practice for players and would be boring and not interesting to watch.
